Daniel Schmidhofer is the founder and current CEO of the Italian company ProGaming which operates in the world of video games. This company specializes in competitive video games and works closely with the ESL (Electronic Sports League), a German company pioneer in organizing video game tournaments around the world.

Daniel Schmidhofer was born in San Candido, in the province of Bolzano, in 1979. From an early age he cultivated a passion for video games also thanks to the contribution of his parents. His father, in fact, rented cabinets and has always allowed him to buy the technological supports useful for playing. Schmidhofer had the opportunity to deal with the first major consoles of the Commodore 64 and the Amiga.

He graduated in Economics and Management from the Free University of Bolzano and in the meantime continued his career as a gamer. In 2001 he qualified for the first “Age of Empires” strategic video game world championships organized by Samsung and flew to South Korea to participate. This is where he began to conceive the idea of ​​founding his own company, which he did in 2003 when he founded ProGaming Italia together with his colleague Holger Schoepf. This company deals with the design and implementation of B2B and B2C events in the recreational entertainment sector, focusing on the export sector.

Over time, ProGaming has become an Italian reference point for international video game tournaments. For more than 15 years, the company has been a partner of ESL, the world’s most popular e-sports platform
